Warhol Portraits

« Back

We've been doing Andy Warhol style portraits and several people asked how they're done, so here you go:

First, I shoot the subject with an inexpensive digital camera. Next in Photoshop, I change the Mode to Greyscale to make it black and white. Then I adjust the tonal range with Levels. The final step is to use Brightness and Contrast to increase the contrast as far as possible without losing the image. It gets printed on an Epson on 13x19 Matte Heavyweight paper and colored with crayons and watered down tempra. Easy.

Come out to the Morean Saturday (August 8th) between 10 and 3 and have yours shot and color it yourself for just $15.

I'll be doing a video on this as soon as I have the time.
