Panning

Moving the camera so that a moving  subject stays in the same place in the frame during the exposure

Pocket Protector

A derogatory slang term used to describe a person or thing that is excessively technical.

Polarizing Filter

A filter placed over the lens that reduces or eliminates undesired reflections from a subject such as water, glass and other shiny surfaces. Also darkens a blue sky.

Pop

A slang term for a single full-power flash of light. Typically used to describe the number of flashes of light required to attain a correct exposure.

Prime Lens

A lens that has a single, fixed focal length.

Program Exposure

An exposure mode on an automatic camera where the aperture and shutter speed are set automatically for the proper exposure.
